Ramadan has started

Ramadan – The Fasting Month (Aug – Sep 2010): According to Islamic teaching, Ramadan is the most blessed month because through fasting and praying, the sins of Muslims are forgiven. During Ramadan, the doors of hell are closed and doors of heaven are opened, so that if anyone dies during that month, he/she goes straight to heaven regardless of their sins. Millions of Muslims spend more time praying, reciting the Qur’an (in Arabic language) and fasting during this month and spiritually they become more alert and active. Sometimes, in some Islamic countries, there are more Jihad Campaigns against Christians during Ramadan because persecuting or killing infidels adds more rewards to earn salvation and to enter Paradise.

Heaven is open and hell is closed (But we Christians know that there can be no salvation and forgiveness of sins without accepting what Jesus Christ has done on the Cross for us. We know that salvation is by grace of God through faith in Christ alone and not by any amount of good works (Ephesians 2:8-10). Salvation cannot be bought but is freely given to us by God.

Whenever we pray – at any time or place – we come to God the Father as children and speak to Him out of our hearts in any language. For us, the form of prayer is not essential, but a sincere worship of God with our minds and hearts is important. In prayer we confess our sins and seek forgiveness, pray for healing of the sick and salvation of the unbelievers. Special times or days are not appointed for fasting for Christians. Jesus taught that whenever we fast, we should do this to please God rather than men. We must refrain from doing and saying any evil thing not only when fasting but all the times. We are encouraged to pray and fast particularly in Isaiah 58:1-14 and Matthew 6: 5-18.

Please pray unceasingly for Muslims especially during Ramadan:

  • Pray that as Muslims around the globe are spiritually more open during this month, they will be open to any encounter with Jesus Christ and to accept Him as their Lord and Saviour;
  • Pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will appear to them in dreams and visions;
  • Pray for peace, comfort, boldness, strength and protection for the persecuted Christians in Islamic countries;
  • Pray for Muslims and Christians who are victims of the recent disastrous floods in Pakistan.
  • Pray that the Flood Relief will be distributed by honest people so that the suffering people will be benefitted rather than it ends up in rich rulers control to fill their bank accounts.

Australian Immigration Detention statistics

Below are some statistics from the Department of Immigration for Australia.  They are interesting to say the least.

From Andrew Bolt:

Kevin Rudd has stimulated one business at least:

THE people-smuggling trade through Jakarta has become such big business that spotter’s fees of up to $540 a person are being offered for getting asylum-seekers on to boats headed for Australia…

The flow of refugees making the perilous crossing to Christmas Island from points on Java’s southern coastline is also being accelerated by the fact successful arrivals are immediately telephoning friends and relatives remaining in Jakarta and nearby, urging that they follow “while the gates are still open”, one asylum-seeker told The Australian.

There is widespread acknowledgement among the asylum-seeker community that the trip to Australia is now as easy as it was in 2001 - the previous numerical high point in the flow.

Islam is violent

Many muslims say that Islam is not violent. Dr. Zakir Naik in his short work Islam and Terrorism gives "proof" that because 14 million coptic Christians exist and not all Spain was converted to Islam, that therefore Islam is not violent.  To be sure, he gives other examples, which have the same force of logic.  Of course by this reasoning, Hitler wasn't violent becuase he didn't kill all the Jews (he even kept some alive because it suited his purposes).  But using his logic, Dr. Naik cannot argue that Christianity wants to annihilate Islam.  Christians ruled Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, etc, and Muslims are still there. "Christians" rule England, the USA etc and Muslims are there; therefore Christianity wants peace with Islam.

Question:  If Islam is peaceful, why are thousands (if not millions) of Christians being persecuted in Islamic countries, being tortured and killed?  Where are Muslims being tortured and killed in Christian countries?

Deity of Jesus Christ

What is it?  What do we mean by it?  How do we defend it?

Why is it important?

If the deity of Jesus Christ isn't true:

  1. The Bible isn't true.  It is so well attested to in Scripture, that if untrue, the Bible cannot be believed. (don't forget we spoke about the Authenticity of the Bible last session).
  2. The atonement is ineffective.  We are made from dust and therefore have limited value.   You can't possibly atone for the depth of my sin against the immutable and Holy God. Jesus Christ, being the Son of God has infinite value and alone can atone for our sin.

8th December 2009

We greet all brothers and sisters in the Wonderful and Mighty Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

As we approach the end of the year, we are getting ready to celebrate God’s faithfulness, goodness, mercy and grace upon each one of us during 2009. We praise and thank the Lord Jesus Christ for all His abundant blessings, protection, provision, guidance and anointing of the Holy Spirit throughout this year. We at IMI have been greatly encouraged and blessed by all your love, generosity, prayer and moral support in the ministry of IMI.

We would like to share with you some of the highlights of what the Lord has done through the ministry work of IMI. During 2009, there were many open doors for the ministry of IMI overseas and in Australia to fulfil our vision to bring Christ to Muslims and Muslims to Christ.
